What is the purpose of the UICAAC?
The UICAAC has three main purposes, the first being to gather and promote camaraderie between former Navy Pier, UICC and UIC Athletes and UIC Athletic Enthusiasts. The second is to help current UIC Athletes through the UIC General Athletic Scholarship Fund by sponsoring fundraising events. The third responsibility is for the nomination, selection and elections of outstanding former athletes and administrators to the UIC Athletic Hall of Fame
How much does membership cost?
Annual membership is only $30.00 per year and is based on a fiscal year that runs from July 1st to June 30th.
How many people are members of the UICAAC?
Even though our numbers vary from year to year, our average is around 200-250 paid members per year.
Where are the UICAAC members located?
A majority of our members are Illinois based. However, we have members in 21 additional states as well as a few foreign countries.
What type of events does the UICAAC sponsor?
The UICAAC holds three memberships events during the school year. Each is associated with an in-season sport.
Who can join the UICAAC?
As a booster group, the UICAAC is open to anyone: Former UIC Athletes, Friends of the Program and UIC Supporters.
Where does my money go?
Your annual fee goes to help fund UICAAC Programs. These fees go towards helping the UICAAC Coaches Grant Program, the UICAAC annual donation to the UIC General Athletic Scholarship Fund as well as supporting the UIC Athletic Hall of Fame.
What is the UICAAC Coaches Grant Program?
This program allows athletic teams or athletic organizations the opportunity to request funds for projects/programs that are not part of their annual budget.
How does my membership work with the UIC Athletic Hall of Fame?
Besides present and retired UIC Coaches and Administrators the only group that is allowed to nominate candidates to the UIC Athletic Hall of Fame are Members in Good Standing of the UICAAC.
How does the UICAAC raise money?
The UICAAC raises money through membership fees, the annual Big Ticket Raffle and conducting the 50/50 Raffle at all Men’s Basketball home games.
What are the Big Ticket Raffle and the 50/50 Raffle?
The Big Ticket Raffle is an annual raffle that comprises the bulk of the UICAAC fund-raising. Tickets are usually sold during the Winter Sports season. Only 1000 are printed. Each ticket is $25.00 or 5 tickets can be purchased for $100.00. Cash prizes are given out with the largest being $2500.00. Tickets can be purchased by anyone.
The 50/50 Raffle is a “split the pot” raffle where the winner receives half of the total amount of tickets sold, e.g., if the total amount sold is $500.00 the winner receives $250.00 and the UICAAC receives $250.00. Ticket prices are: 1 for $1.00, 6 for $5.00 and 30 for $20.00.
What type of volunteer opportunities are available for the UICAAC?
There are many volunteer opportunities for the UICAAC: Members can volunteer for the UICAAC Board (if openings are available). Members can also volunteer to be a Director-at-Large for their sport (if openings are available). The biggest need for volunteers is in the area of being sellers(and buyers) for either the 50/50 raffle or for the Big Ticket Raffle.
